An up-close look at the new collection of adidas Originals Tubular Doom Primeknit in the “St Pale Nude” colorway. I teamed it with some of my favourite pieces from my wardrobe.
I must admit, at first sight, I thought these sneakers looked like a nude bodycon dress that Kim Kardashian would wear.
The immensely popular adidas Originals Tubular Doom makes a comeback this winter season with a Primeknit upper in tan. I already own the Tubular Doom which I picked up early 2016, in a Black/White colorway. You can check it out here. And of course, the Tubular that initiated me into it all – the neoprene runner.
A quick unboxing and on-feet video from my YouTube channel :
It features the Tubular Doom’s signature aggressive mid-sole which is reminiscent of the Y-3 Qasa. The cage on this version is built of patent leather with some interesting detailing like “punched stars”. The Primeknit bootie has hits of grey, while the leather bits are tan with the elastic straps and laces complete in a nude/pale color. The rope laces have reflectors built into them which is a nice touch. All of this sits on a sharp white tubular sole. I have said this before, I am looking forward to the day these kicks feature boost soles. You guys do know, that the Tubular sole is designed after car tires right?
The heel is built firm and re-inforced to provide the heel with much needed support. The rest of the sock like upper is the best thing to slip your feet into. Go true to size with these kicks. The fit is snug but the Primeknit has a fair bit of stretch. Also, I tried on the Ultra Boost 3.0 after getting these kicks. And the PK is almost the same on these models, especially the kind of space and give them have in the toe area.
Outfit Details : I teamed these kicks with a Thrasher tee that I picked up during my trip to Malaysia from a skate shop. I threw on a jacket from HUF and pulled on my Levi’s 501 CT denims, with my 59Fifty New Era cap.
What do you make of this interesting colorway? I was apprehensive at first, to be entirely honest, but then fell in love with it when I wore it the first time. Let me know your thoughts in the comments section.
