New Balance 992 x JJJJound (Moss Green) – A Pair I’ve Wanted To Add To My Rotation

Very few pairs have tickled my fancy (yuck, I can’t believe I just typed that) like the JJJJound New Balance 992. I remember seeing teased images back when that pair was set to release, and falling in love.

I knew right then, come what may, I had to include this pair in my collection. Alas, as with how things go for me with sneaker drops, I couldn’t get my hands on a pair. And these came out, if I am not mistaken, back in July 2020. And while I thought I would get these for my birthday then, fast forward to 2022, and I got them for this year’s birthday in July.

I picked up this pair on Ox Street (A Singapore based reselling platform), during my travels.

Before we dive into the sneaker itself, here’s the review from my YouTube channel:

JJJJound is a Montreal based studio, that started off as a mood board led by Justin Saunders. They have this minimalist approach that is their signature style. And something about their aesthetic is such a draw. I have tried, on multiple occasions, to get some of their products but haven’t been successful. Even with the Reebok Classic collaboration for that matter.

The hype for New Balance footwear has steadily increased over the last few years, more so the Made in USA range. Released in the same year as the AJ1, 1982, given the high cost of manufacturing in America the pair came with a high price tag in comparison to other sneakers. The 992 became Steve Jobs’ sneaker of choice.

The 992 is quite a versatile pair, blending in top-of-the-line materials and well-cushioned comfort with simple colour-blocking. All New Balance 992s are part of the Made in USA range.

The comfort on the 992 is insane for every day, all-day wear, and that’s thanks to the Abzorb technology they come with. The ride is super soft, not bouncy, yet firm. While the model was discontinued in 2010, thanks to hyped collaborations and limited quantity restocks, the model has shot to the forefront of the sneaker scene.

It’s safe to say New Balance sneakers are right on top of every “discerning” Sneakerhead’s wishlist lately. Have you seen the way the 2002R Protection pack pairs sell out?

One thing to keep in mind though, is that the sizing on New Balance pairs often vary across models. So make sure you check a size-guide for the model you intend to buy.
