I got home last night to see almost everyone on my timeline share the Captain America : Civil War trailer because they were excited for some reason. And that reason, was Spiderman.
Yup, after all that talk and anticipation/debate of if it will happen, Spidey has managed to make in-roads to the Marvel Studios universe. And a kid joining a fight between grown men(and women) has never garnered so much excitement. What is interesting is that the re-reboot Spidey suit is true to the vintage comic version. The eyes are animated and the spider logo is a lot smaller. There are also hits of black beneath the shoulder and in the shin area.
What was appalling is that nobody thought much about Black Panther. Sure, we have seen glimpses of him in earlier trailers but this one showed him in action and you wouldn’t want to rub this man the wrong way. No sir. Also, Ant Man, I mean come on! True to the inside joke of him being put to good use riding on Hawkeye‘s arrow to do some serious damage to the opponents, there is one such scene in the trailer!
You don’t even want to get me started about how almost nobody knows Cross Bones and are still so excited. Heck, they probably don’t even know his origin story was in Captain America : The Winter Soldier. Then there is the exciting entry of Thunderbolt Ross from the Hulk series. Does this mean we get to see a Red Hulk in the near future?
The usuals are there in plenty across the screen – The Vision, War Machine, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Falcon and Winter Soldier. As are the lead protagonists Captain America and Iron Man.
I don’t really know what to make of this. This movie might as well be called Avengers 3 with the overkill of characters. But what it does is shut everyone up who complained during Captain America 2 about the absence of any other super hero’s intervention during crisis, questioning the stand-alone franchise. Well, it doesn’t matter either way, this movie is going to make a lot of money and I am going to be contributing to it as well!
The rest of the trailer is quite self-explanatory. You can watch it here :
