In this edition of Streetwear Fit, I slip into the all-new Reebok Classic X Gigi Hadid Aztrek Double. It is all chunky and thicc. One of the reasons I wanted the Aztrek Double so bad is because it was a platform sneaker but also came in men’s sizes!
Kicking things off, is this Levi’s new season shopping haul and Reebok Classic X Gigi Hadid Aztrek Double video from my YouTube channel
We cannot ignore the OG Aztrek when we do a collab feature. So here we have, a quick video montage of the Reebok Classic Aztrek ’93.
I was part of the Reebok Classic campaign in India during the launch of the Aztrek ’93 earlier in March 2019.
The Reebok Classic Aztrek is a very simple shoe. Made for functionality, a proper throwback and dare I say, an actual “Dad Shoe”? It comes in a range of colorways that I quite like and at a very affordable price point. I have seen it around, I have a pair. I thought the one pair that I have is all I need in my rotation. And that was true. True, till I laid eyes on the Gigi Hadid Reebok Classic Aztrek!
At first, I must admit, I was apprehensive. A platform sneaker? Surely I couldn’t make them work? But then I decided to have a go at them. Safe to say, no regrets.
The upper is a clear derivative of the Classic Aztrek in terms of the silhouette and mixed material paneling. The color blocking on the Gigi Hadid Aztrek Double has been kept simple and clean, with a pop on the mid sole at the outer forefoot in orange. Gigi Hadid branding makes its way to the lace tips, tongue and insole. There is an obvious improvement in the quality of materials used as well, in comparison to the OG Aztrek. For instance, the sock liner is like neoprene/polyester on the Gigi Hadid Aztrek, instead of basic cotton as on the OG. The Aztrek Double is light in weight and is comfortable. I wore my pair for a week straight with no issues or complaints.
Why should you consider picking up the Reebok Classic X Gigi Hadid Aztrek Double? Because it is a very clean looking chunky sneaker, on a budget. It has a limited run and is also unlike all the regular chunky sneakers currently in the market. Dare I add, it comes quite close to the Yeezy 700 Waverunner in terms of color scheme overall?
Completing the look is a white Uniqlo X Kaws tee that I picked up during my trip to Bangkok with Connie. I am not sure if it was brand sizing or if it was sizing specific to Thailand, but I had to pick up an XL size and it still fits me like a snug L size. Nonetheless, I loved the prints and the fact that I could access it at retail so I picked up 3 different tees, if I am not mistaken.
Here is my travel vlog from the Thailand Trip.
