We take a look at how to style the classic polo by United Colors of Benetton, by day and night.

The polo tee is an incredibly versatile piece of dressing that a man can own in his wardrobe. Depending on the occasion and time of day, you can either choose to dress it up or down.

I personally prefer dressing down polo tees. However, I do split them up by their color when I choose to wear them during the day or in the evening. I like keeping the colors light for when the sun is out and the light too harsh. This helps me keep my cool. For my evenings and nights out, I keep the colors dark. I team them with deep blue or black denims to keep with the overall look.

I am an all out sneaker head, unless it is a black tie affair. For the evenings out, I like my polos fitted and for the day a classic fit is what works best. Fitted polos look proper with a pair of denims for a night out with friends, whereas relaxed fits are more at home at the workplace or at a Sunday brunch with shorts. For those that prefer to tuck their tees, the United Colors of Benetton polo comes with a longer back hem (called the Tennis Tail). This ensures they don’t comes out easy when you sit down. It keeps the tee tucked in, as you go through the motions of the day.

What I loved about the United Colors of Benetton polo is that they retain the classic ribbed collar and cuffs. These details provide a double benefit. For one, they retain the shape of the tee through the various wash cycles that you will put it through. It keeps them prim and proper. Secondly, they look pretty good, especially around the arms. Rather than hanging off you, they grip you pretty well and that adds to the form of the polo tee.

And the size of the collars vary with the size of the polo tee, ensuring that if you buy a Large sized polo, the collar would be proportionate to the rest of the tee.

The fabric on these tees is primarily cotton with elastane at the ribs. Which, I would say, are perfect for the type of climate India experiences. With it being warm to hot most of the year, for the winters you can always layer your polo with a jacket and it would still fit the bill. As for the rest of the year, the polo tee is a wardrobe must-have for all men. Regardless of the field you specialise in, you must have at least a couple of them for your days meeting clients or your evenings chilling with buds.
