Sneakers, it turns out, have interesting back stories. Cocooned in our supply driven market of kicks, we have not been privy to most of what has been happening around us. For instance, sometime in the early 2000’s, the Air Force 1 Low Wheat colorway was released only in Japan. And it immediately became a coveted sneaker. In fact, it got rated as one of the greatest designs this AF1 base has been interpreted in. That’s what is interesting about the AF1. It has gone through so many takes on it’s silhouettes. The Japanese model, set the wheels spinning for many of the Wheat AF1 versions that were launched in the market subsequently.

Since the 2001 Japan drop, there have been various iterations of the AF1 silhouette but the Timberland-inspired colorways have been a constant.

The Workboot is one of the finer versions in my opinion. They have this entire “tough as nails” appeal. The heavy-duty golden hexagonal eyelets, boot styled laces and all gum outer sole add to the workwear theme. The insides have the regular mesh lining, the swoosh that wraps around the back of the sneaker is present along with the branding on the tongue. The upper is all suede, with white contrast stitching running through the entire sneaker. The swoosh and heel have a grainy finish in their detailing.

A true classic sneaker, enhanced with a tough finish. And classics, will always be better than your average sneaker!
