We take a closer look at the Nike Roshe One (Run) Flyknit PRM
The challenge of developing a clean pair of kicks that would look cool, and be at an affordable price point is what got us the Roshe from Nike back in 2012. Dylan Raasch, the man behind this largely successful line of kicks was to keep the price point at $70, whilst maintaining “bang for the buck” that Nike is synonymous with. Because Dylan meditated a lot and simplicity was his way of life, he chose to keep the design element for this project very easy and calm. Hence, he chose zen influences. Roshi is the term for a Zen master and for obvious legal reasons, Nike changed the spelling over to Roshe.

However with the success of Roshe, we saw every eventual variation of the sneaker get current and fresh updates that eventually led to the PRM. Now, PRM stands for Premium for the uninitiated. And in the 3 years since its debut, the Roshe’s in their current iteration have Flyknit construction on the toe, 3M reflective overlay while the heel has a diamond like texture.
When I first slipped on these shoes, I was an instant fan of their light weight and comfort. These were never intended to be performance shoes and are pure lifestyle kicks. So don’t attempt to go running in them. There is a reason they changed the name from Roshe Run to Roshe One.
I think these shoes come into their own when worn, rather than when held in your hand or seen at a store. It is almost like they transform into a different entity. They look equally good with shorts or denims, even if they are cuffed joggers. And you can wing them as easily with or without socks, retaining your street cred. And when I wanted to go for safer colors I chose this specific colorway because it pops out. Like quite literally, I need to ensure the rest of my outfit is as muted as it possibly can be, because these sneakers are all the hues you need on you in one look. Unless you have balls of steel in experimenting with colors.
I wanted to team these kicks with something that isn’t too mainstream. Which is why I chose this specific tee from (yet to be released) street wear brand Haul. I am going to be doing a story on them folks some time soon so watch this space. I chose to style them with my pin rolled denims and they look pretty amaze balls! Don’t you think?
For my second look I threw on a Ratchet Clothing UK tee and pullover, pulled on some chinos and snapped back a Haul Apparel hat. The Ratchet Clothing UK tee has paint splattered by hand for each individual tee, which is what makes it so much fun. And that pullover, well if you are a possessive lover this makes for a perfect 1 month anniversary present. Hahaha..
