I love to shop, especially in retro stores. I have about a million pairs of old-school sports shoes like Adidas, so that’s probably my biggest vice. – Carrot Top
That sounds a lot like me, to be honest. Although we don’t really have a large spread of thrift shops in India, a lot of my wardrobe is retro inspired. Am not talking “Grease” retro mind you, despite my love for leather jackets being infinitesimal. But everything from my sunnies (Wayfarers, Aviators, Clubmasters) to my watches (Tissot Heritage Visodate) and accessories (Cambridge Satchel) are a throwback to the old times when style was clean and neat designs.
Needless to say, this love to extends to my feet as well. I love retro and iconic sneakers. I remember when I was in high school, I fell in love with Adidas Superstars when I began following Limp Bizkit. And then Gazelle’s made it to the top of my list looking at some skateboarders sport them. They were beyond my reach till I had worked for about 4 years, having finished college. And that coincided with Adidas launching Originals as a separate extension of the brand.
Adidas Originals covers sports fashion styles with strong references to the decades between the 1940s to 1980s. The brand has a distinctively retro old school feel and decided that the trefoil logo would only be used on heritage products.
Flash forward to present day, when I was lazing with my beer and surfing the internet for my next pair. And that is when I stumbled upon Mainline Menswear. This website has an enviable collection of sneakers that is bound to make you reach out for your credit card.
