As you navigate through the rest of your life, be open to collaboration. Other people and other people’s ideas are often better than your own. Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life. – Amy Poehler
This week, we bring to you a collaborative effort between 2 fashion bloggers and a photographer. Namita Gautham of Take A Bow & Al Claudius of Bowties and Bones worked with Kapil Shingada at what should have been the crack of dawn. After a night with free shots, finger food and 2 hours of nap time no less. That should explain the sun glasses.
I have never been much of a poser. Not by choice, if I may add. Unless it is another selfie I am attempting. The thing is, I am terribly camera shy when I have to pose. If it is a wedding, a party and other social set ups, sure I can flash my best smile. But when there is a photographer asking you to emote, I just laugh to appear a lot less awkward.
Namita on the other hand is a natural. I have asked her on several virtual occasions about how she did it. She’d say, “There is nothing to do really, just go out there and be yourself”. And I would think to myself, “Sure, I will just get in front of the camera and fidget with my fingers or bite my nails”.
Fortunately for me, she swung by the Bay and I popped the question “Will you shoot with me?” And like all other Rom-coms eventually end, she agreed. I was a lot less awkward despite the public staring and I guess I have to thank her (coupled with the hangover) for that. As for our looks, we just threw on whatever we could get our hands on (without discussing with each other) and voila, we managed to make it look like our wardrobe was coordinated. Talk about great minds!
I also threw a challenge at Kapil, who has shot me once before and also features on my The Reluctant Hero, post to make us look good. And he did so, quite successfully.
PS: I said “should have been” because both subjects turned up late for the shoot leaving Kapil at the mercy of the lake and dew. All those early Sunday joggers weren’t interested in making conversation it turns out. But in the end, all’s well that winds up on a high note!
We hopped over to Krispy Kreme for some Donuts and Coffee. Hence, the broad grins here.
