This 20 something Indian girl (she’s Bengali, how delish) has a culturally diverse upbringing. For starters, she was born in London which is my favorite city of all time and was raised in Australia. We present to you, the Main Squeeze of the month (also the first of 2015) Tasneem Shahidullah!
Starting out on her own as a fashion blogger, her focus was to be quirky and make everyday women relate to her style. And as if being the content writer and model of her blog wasn’t enough, she also is her own photographer. The trick she had to master she says, was to make the images appear as if they had been shot by another individual. Props to you, Tasneem, that is something we struggle with all the time!
Being a Fashion and Graphics Designer by trade, her Bengali roots are pretty prevalent in her style. I could just look at her eyes all day. I mean, look at them!!
She places a lot of emphasis on Design and Creativity because it helps her justify her thoughts and feelings and adds that despite sounding cliched, it gives her purpose.
And, she is yet to hear a smart pick up line, if there ever was one!
B&B : What is the weirdest pick up line you have heard?
Tasneem : Guy: “Wow, are your eyelashes real? “
Me: “Yeah they are.”
Guy: “No way! Close them?”
Me: *I proceed to close my eyes*
Guy: *lunges in for a kiss*
I am most certainly going to try that out the next time I am in a bar and have fueled enough courage with some bourbon.
B&B : What kind of a man would make you notice him?
Tasneem : I am attracted to manly men, if you know what I mean. However, as long as they are nice and driven everything else can fall into place. But an important aspect for me is they have to have nice shoes. Haha..
B&B : How do you kick back?
Tasneem : I like to paint or perhaps go thrift shopping. Listening to some mellow hip hop does it for me at times.
B&B : What is your take on men’s fashion?
Tasneem : I like a guy that can look effortless and not try too hard. It’s really cool to see a confident guy in a pair of harem pants and cotton-relaxed top. Also getting the right fit is a big thing when it comes to men’s fashion.
B&B : Beard or Clean-Shaven men?
Tasneem : Depends on the guy really, perhaps a bit of stubble.
B&B : What is your favorite time of year?
Tasneem : Summer. It has so much more versatility to offer when it comes to fashion. The energy of summer is so exciting and spontaneous.
B&B : What would you wear on an evening out with friends?
Tasneem : Something comfortable, maybe a playsuit with heeled boots.
B&B : And how would you prefer lazing? With a book or a movie?
Tasneem : I only really read when I’m travelling or before bed. I like movies because they are more social. (Laughs) I can vicariously live through the actors. I secretly would love to be an actor some day.
B&B : What is your wardrobe staple?
Tasneem : A good pair of black heeled boots.
B&B : And one wardrobe staple you think is indispensable for men?
Tasneem : A simple crew neck t-shirt.
