Jakarta, Indonesia and Changi Airport, Singapore through my eyes – Point of view shot on iPhone

I travelled to Jakarta, Indonesia for Urban Sneaker Society (which is a sneaker event) through Changi Airport in Singapore. And this is an account of all that I ate and drank when I was there. All shots are point of view, obviously. I don’t do selfies and I didn’t have company either.

Whilst the Pilsner was very ok as a beer, the Bintang Radler was crazy good.

The best airport I have spent any time at, has to be Changi in Singapore.

This meal will mean a lot more to me, than just it’s remarkable taste!

A meal with a story.

I never post an image that’s been shot badly with zero aesthetic. But for this picture, I’ll make an exception.

So my flight from Singapore to Bangalore was overbooked. 4 other passengers and I were on standby. As we wait for an update, I head down to grab a bite since the last meal I ate was 12 hours ago in Jakarta, Indonesia.

I check with the lady if they’d accept cards and she nodded. Perhaps I wasn’t clear or spoke too quickly since I was in a rush. After my order (Beef Rendang) is prepared I am told they don’t accept cards and (as you would already know if you follow me on Instagram) I was all out of cash on day 2 of my trip!

It is at this exact moment that a kind gentleman who walked over to collect his meal, offered to cover for mine as well. I was surprised. He first asked the cashier what seemed to be the problem and then proceeded to pay for my meal. I said “No I cannot allow that, I will figure this out.” To which he asked me to relax and offered me cutlery, sat down with me, finished his meal and walked away. Man, if that isn’t kindness to a stranger! I felt honored, embarrassed and ashamed (that I seldom do a good deed) all at the same time. I thanked him but never got to ask him his name. I only know that he is from Singapore and was flying out on a business trip.

I eventually got on a flight to Bombay later that night. But I didn’t get that moment out of my head. And I hope I never do!

Pay it forward.

Here’s to hoping I can travel again soon! For a sneaker event, no less. Send me positive vibes, will you?
