We take a closer look at some serious heat Puma is bringing into the sneaker game, with the Ignite Limitless Extreme Hi Tech! Quite a mouthful, that name.

Ever since sneaker culture has been on the rise (a more recent development in India), we have been subject to frequent drops of the latest kicks, re-issues and dope collaborations. And then all of a sudden like a bolt of lightening out of nowhere, Puma begins to drop some serious heat. It began with the Boris Becker re-issue in India. I remember thinking to myself, now who (unless they are old enough) would care for a Becker sneaker! But then as soon as I tried on a pair, I fell in love with it’s simplicity and comfort. Have worn it 3 weeks straight at the time of writing this piece! Overseas though, Puma has been doing a lot of good stuff like collabs with BAPE, Filling Pieces and Careaux to name only a few.

As if that was not enough of a shocker, I came home to a rather huge (but super light at the same time) carton with a Puma sticker on it last week. I crack it open and am shocked. I say shocked because while I was taking in all the tech that has been built into the Puma Ignite Limitless Extreme Hi Tech, I was kinda amazed with it’s weight (or the lack of it). I would have expected it to feel a lot more heavier, but no sir. Great job, Puma.

I mean, here I was, thinking the only relevant thing they have done in the recent past was sign on Sex Pop singer, The Weeknd.

I distinctly remember seeing The Weeknd wearing the pair of the Ignite EvoKnit’s (I think) in the Starboy video and wondering if it was a product placement or did they sign the man on to the brand.

Let us get to the sneaker now, because the Puma Ignite Limitless Extreme Hi Tech is the real hero! This sneaker is going to grab all the eye balls in the room (or the streets) there is no 2 ways about it. Did you see the insane collar height on the pair? Better still, is if you are out about town after sunset. Those reflective hits on the tongue and collar will make you pop. Puma went a step ahead with the Ignite Limitless Extreme Hi Tech and made the entire mid-sole reflective. My favourite part perhaps is the fact that the cage has a Kevlar mesh built in to it. Imagine you are in one of those late 80s/early 90s Bollywood movies where all the villains henchmen would shoot at the hero but the bullets would ricochet off the ground near his feet because they can’t be bothered to aim at the torso? Lol.

The kevlar mesh coupled with the PU-sealed toe cap make this sneaker resistant to getting your socks wet when it rains or you absent-mindedly walk into a puddle or a gang lord’s den. And that translucent carbon-fibre hit on the sole is pure sex for the eyes.

Is there anything they haven’t thought of when making the Puma Ignite Limitless Extreme Hi Tech???

The fit is true to size. The fore-foot strap provides you with adequate support while the ignite sole takes care of the cushioning. I can totally rock these kicks with lounge shorts and leggings I imagine. And while these sneakers are not meant for track running, you can easily #RunTheStreets in them.
