Streetwear Fit Of The Day : Anuj Bhutani, Stone Island, Omega, BRED Yeezy Boost 350 V2

Streetwear Fit Of The Day is your vanilla OOTD (outfit of the day) post but with details of the key pieces.

Stone Island is an Italian menswear brand started in 1982 by Massimo Osti, made famous in recent times by Drake who has been spotted on different occasions in pieces from their line. The brand is perhaps visually identified by their compass patch that buttons on to their pockets/sleeves. The brand has always had a cult following in Europe from the 80’s and was soon appropriated by football fans in England. And this where the brand gained it’s notoriety, from football hooligans who tried to avoid the attention from the local police by wearing “high-end” brands rather than their team jersey.

And all credit of making it popular today goes to the UK Grime scene. Everyone from JHus to Skepta sport the brand in their videos, which is perhaps where Drake picked it up from. But the brand has a lot more to it, than the mere hype. It is constructed extremely well, the fabric and construction is top-shelf stuff. Add to it, military-inspired silhouettes and you have a tough-guy brand.

I kept the fit simple, teaming the Stoney shorts with a custom-made tee by Delhi based designer Anuj Bhutani. I have always been a fan of his minimal patterns ever since I saw his first season showcase at the Lakme Fashion Week in 2015. This tee for instance, is so unassuming till you notice the rough hems and the zipper on the shoulder. Completing the look is my Yeezy Boost 350 V2 BRED with Gosha Rubchinskiy socks. I kept accessories to the bare minimum, with my Omega Seamaster 300.

I couldn’t get the SLAV squat right, I need some stretches incorporated into my daily schedule.

What I did was essentially mix designer wear with streetwear, throwing in a tiny bit of luxury style. A lot of people mistake streetwear for flippant casual style. They can’t be farther away from the truth. Streetwear is no longer irreverent, it is being interpreted differently and is the direction in which India is headed. Luxury and Streetwear are making the differentiation blurry, except for the price tag of course. Haha.

What do you make of the fit? Let me know in the comments.
